This policy explains what personal data CBC Guides (“we”) collects when you use cbcguide.co.ke, why we collect it, and your rights. We aim to comply with Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019. Last updated: October 2026.
Data We Collect
- Parent sign-ups. If you sign up for updates, we store the contact you give us (an email address or phone number), the type of contact, your child’s grade if you choose to give it, the consent wording you agreed to, and the date. Sign-up requires you to tick a consent box.
- Messages you send us. If you email us, we keep your email address and message so we can reply.
- Technical data. Like most websites, our server records basic technical information such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, for security and to keep the site working.
- Analytics. We may use Google services, such as Search Console and Google Analytics through the Site Kit plugin, to understand how the site is used. These may set cookies and process data as described in Google’s own privacy policy. We do not use these services to identify individual visitors.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Sign-ups are intended for parents and guardians.
How We Use It
- To send you the updates you asked for, such as assessment dates, new guides and fees information.
- To reply to your messages and correct content.
- To keep the site secure and improve it.
Our legal basis is your consent for sign-ups, and our legitimate interest for site security and improvement. We do not sell your personal data.
Sharing
We share data only with service providers who help run the site, such as our web host and analytics providers, and only as needed. We will disclose data if the law requires it.
How Long We Keep It
We keep sign-up details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. We keep emails for as long as needed to deal with your query. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security.
Your Rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2019, you have the right to be informed about how your data is used, to access it, to ask us to correct or delete it, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To use these rights, email hello@cbcguide.co.ke. You may also complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC).
Cookies
The site may use essential cookies, for example for logged-in administrators and caching, and analytics cookies if analytics is enabled. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work.
Changes
We may update this policy. The “last updated” date above will change when we do.
