About these papers
Most results lead to a long chain of download links, a WhatsApp number and a fee, and many of the files are scans of papers that the original publishers never agreed to share. This hub works differently. Every paper here is written by us, follows the official KNEC format for its grade and subject, and is sat online: your child answers on a phone or laptop, the paper marks itself, and every question comes with a worked answer that shows the method, not just the letter.
National Assessment Papers
- KJSEA Past Papers and Practice Papers (Grade 9)
- KPSEA Past Papers and Practice Papers (Grade 6)
- KCSE Past Papers and Practice Papers (8-4-4, final cohorts): Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology
How Our Online Papers Work
Each paper copies the real structure of the national assessment: the same number of questions, the same sections and the same time allowed. A KPSEA Mathematics paper is 30 multiple-choice questions in 1 hour 20 minutes. A KJSEA Mathematics paper is 100 marks in 2 hours, split into a 20-mark multiple-choice section and an 80-mark structured section. Practising at the real length is the single most useful thing a candidate can do in the last weeks, because KNEC allows no extra time and reading time is part of the time printed on the paper.
- Free preview. Anyone can sit the first five questions of any paper, see their score and read the worked answers. No sign-up needed.
- Full paper and timed mode. Learners (KES 500 a month after a 7-day free trial) unlock every question, a countdown timer set to the real exam length, and the full marking review.
- Worked answers. After marking, every question shows the correct answer and the steps to reach it, plus the topic it tests, so you know exactly what to revise next.
Why We Don’t Host “Leaked” Or Scanned Papers
KNEC owns the national papers, and commercial publishers own the papers they sell to schools. Sites that rehost them break copyright and often spread wrong marking schemes. The only official practice material is the set of sample papers and assessment tools that KNEC publishes for teachers through its website and CBA portal; ask your child’s school for them. Everything on this page is original, so you can use it freely at home.
A Simple Revision Routine For The Last Two Weeks
Sit one paper a day in the real time limit, in the morning when the actual exams start (8.30 a.m.). Mark it, then spend twenty minutes on the worked answers for the questions your child got wrong, and write the topic of each mistake in a notebook. On the weekend, go back to that list and practise those topics with the CBC Challenge or the short topic quizzes. Two weeks of this beats a pile of unmarked photocopies, because every mistake gets found and fixed.
If you are new to the new system, our KJSEA parent hub explains how Grade 9 results feed into senior school placement, and the Grade 9 and Grade 6 guides explain what each subject covers.
Original CBC Guide practice papers, not official KNEC papers. CBC papers are aligned to the KICD curriculum designs, KCSE papers follow the 8-4-4 syllabus, and all are checked by the CBC Guides team. Spot an error? Tell us.
