Grade 7 is the first year of junior school, and for many families it is the first year of “real” exams: more subjects, new teachers for each learning area, and end-of-term tests set by the school or bought from a publisher.
About these papers
Searches for “grade 7 end term 3 exams” climb every October and November for a simple reason: parents want to know what the paper will look like before their child sits it. This page collects our original Grade 7 practice exams, which you sit online, have marked instantly, and review with worked answers.
How End-Term Exams Differ From KJSEA
End-of-term exams in junior school are set by schools, zones or commercial publishers, not by KNEC, so there is no single official format. Some schools use papers of 30 to 50 marks; others mirror the Grade 9 KJSEA structure with a multiple-choice section followed by structured questions. Our exams follow that KJSEA-style layout on purpose. If your child gets used to the national format from Grade 7, the Grade 9 assessment feels familiar instead of frightening. The marks from school-based assessments in Grades 7 and 8 also feed into the final KJSEA result, so steady work in these years counts.
What Term 3 Covers
Term 3 exams usually test the whole year, with the most weight on the topics taught since September. In Mathematics that means whole numbers, factors, fractions, decimals, squares and square roots, algebra and simple equations, measurement (area, Pythagoras, money and time), angles and data. In Integrated Science it means laboratory safety and apparatus, mixtures and separation, acids and bases, cells and the microscope, diffusion and osmosis, classification, electricity, magnetism and heat transfer. In English it means comprehension of stories and poems, and grammar from nouns to direct speech.
How To Use These Exams
Sit each exam once in timed mode a week or two before the school’s exams. Mark it, then spend an evening on the worked answers for every question your child missed, writing the topic in a revision notebook. A few days later, sit it again. A rising score means the topics, not just the answers, have stuck. In between, keep practice short and regular: ten questions a day in the Grade 7 CBC Challenge is enough to keep skills fresh.
A Word On Free “Exam Downloads”
Many sites offer “Grade 7 end term 3 exams 2026 pdf download” and then ask for payment by M-Pesa or WhatsApp before sending a marking scheme. Many of these files are copies of publishers’ papers shared without permission, and the marking schemes are often wrong. Our exams are original, every answer shows its working, and the first five questions of each are free to try.
