About the Grade 7 CBC Challenge

Grade 7 is the first year of Junior School, when algebra and Integrated Science arrive. Ten questions, each marked straight away with the working.

What the Grade 7 questions cover

Mathematics: whole numbers, factors, fractions, decimals, squares and square roots, algebraic expressions, linear equations, linear inequalities, pythagorean relationship, area, money, angles and data handling.

Integrated Science: laboratory safety, laboratory apparatus, mixtures, acids and bases, human reproductive system, human excretory system, magnetism, electrical energy, electricity and introduction to Integrated Science.

English: parts of speech, affirmative and negative sentences, phrasal verbs, tenses, features of style, vocabulary, comparison, prepositions, punctuation, subject-verb agreement and nouns.

Each go draws ten questions at random from the Grade 7 bank, so going again gives a different mix. Practice material written for the CBC curriculum. Spot an error? Tell us.

Getting the most out of it

Let your child take the quiz alone, then look at the score card together and pick one topic to revise that week.

Score card, levels and privacy

The level on the score card (Exceeding, Meeting, Approaching or Below Expectation) is indicative, worked out from the KJSEA mark ranges reported in the press. Ten questions cannot replace classroom assessment. How CBC grading works explains the levels.

Want to see how your child compares? Check the top CBC students in Kenya this week. A grade appears there once enough children have played it. A parent joins with a nickname, a county and their consent. We never ask for surnames, schools or phone numbers.

Other grades: Grade 4, Grade 5, Grade 6, Grade 8, Grade 9.
