Every time your child sits a CBC Guides paper, a CBC Challenge or a day of the exam countdown, each question counts towards a topic. Score well on a topic more than once and it earns a badge: a gold star sticker, like the ones teachers put in exercise books. This page is your child’s sticker page.
How a Topic Earns Its Badge
A badge means a topic has gone well more than once, so it isn’t down to one lucky guess. To earn one, a topic needs all three of these:
- At least two sittings with 80% or more. A sitting is one paper, one challenge or one countdown set. Getting the Fractions questions right on Monday and again on Thursday counts as two.
- At least three questions answered on the topic across all sittings.
- 80% or more right overall on that topic.
Badges are always at the Exceeding Expectation (EE) level, because 80% sits inside the EE band (75% and above). Topics still in progress are listed under “Working towards”, with a coloured level and a note on what is still missing.
What the Colours Mean
| Colour | Level | Score on the topic |
|---|---|---|
| Green | EE, Exceeding Expectation | 75–100% |
| Blue | ME, Meeting Expectation | 41–74% |
| Gold | AE, Approaching Expectation | 21–40% |
| Red | BE, Below Expectation | 0–20% |
These are the same cut-offs our CBC Challenge uses. They group KNEC’s eight KJSEA levels in pairs. For what each level means on a real result slip, see the KJSEA grade calculator and level explainer.
Where Your Child’s Topics Come From
Each question on our papers and quizzes is tagged with a topic, such as “Indices”, “Reported speech” or “Human circulatory system”. When a paper is marked, the site adds up how many questions on each topic were right. Nothing else about your child is recorded: no name, no school, no photo.
- Exam countdown: 5 questions a day before KPSEA and KJSEA.
- CBC Challenge: 10-question quizzes for Grades 4 to 9.
- Revision papers: full-length practice papers. The first 5 questions of each are free.
Where the Badges Are Saved
If you aren’t signed in, badges are saved only in this phone’s browser. Clearing the browser or switching phones starts the page again. If you’re signed in, for example on the free 7-day trial, badges are saved to your account, and your account page shows a small badge shelf. Anything earned before signing in is added to the account the first time you visit while signed in.
Turning practice into stickers works because children can see progress. Ask your child which badge they want next, then pick a paper that covers it. If a topic keeps coming up red or gold, open a What to revise report for a plan.
