Practical Tips for Siaya Families

• 1 of Siaya’s sub-counties (Bondo W) have no C1 or C2 school, so families there who want those clusters will be looking at boarding schools in other sub-counties or counties.
• Among C1 and C2 schools here, 10 are girls-only and 10 are boys-only. The split is even.
• If you want a mixed boarding school, the list has 17 in Siaya, including Barkowino Secondaryschool, Fr. Ouderaa Secondary School for the Hearing Impaired and Nico Hauser Special School for the Visually Impair.
• For learners with special needs, Siaya has 2 special needs schools: Fr. Ouderaa Secondary School for the Hearing Impaired and Nico Hauser Special School for the Visually Impair.
• Siaya has the most C4 day schools in Siaya (46), so learners there have the widest choice of nearby day schools.
• With 197 C4 day schools, list your realistic nearby day school among the 12 choices as a safe option, especially in Siaya, which has the widest choice.

How Grade 10 Selection Works for Siaya Learners

Each learner submits 12 choices covering C1 to C4 (Ministry statement, 21 December 2025). Siaya’s list gives 48 boarding-cluster schools and 197 day schools to draw from. The placement score is 60% KJSEA, 20% school-based assessment from Grades 7 and 8 and 20% KPSEA. Because a school can only place your child in a pathway it actually runs, and the list for Siaya doesn’t record pathways, check with the school directly.
