Grade 9 Agriculture and Nutrition: What the CBC Curriculum Covers and How It Is Assessed

Agriculture in Junior School now includes parts of Home Science, which is why KICD’s Grade 9 design is titled Agriculture and Nutrition. It has four lessons a week. It is a practical learning area: learners make hay, garden organically, cook and build simple equipment. This page explains it as of October 2026.

What the Grade 9 Design Covers

How Agriculture Is Assessed in KJSEA

  • 906/2 Project: a one-month project in school in July 2026, already complete for this year’s candidates.
  • 906/1 written paper: Wednesday 28 October 2026, 11.30 a.m.–1.10 p.m. (1 hour 40 minutes), after Mathematics.

Revision Tips for Parents

  • Let them do it at home. Cooking with flour (chapati or mandazi), storing harvested grain and disinfecting utensils are all in the design.
  • Visit a farm or kitchen garden. Ask your child to explain integrated farming or grafting from what they see.
  • Link to the weather. Drought and food storage questions are easier when your child can relate them to your area.
  • Revise processes as steps. Making hay or a sun dryer is best remembered as a numbered sequence.
