About this paper
The real KNEC paper includes map work and structured questions and lasts about 2 hours 45 minutes — this set has no map extract, so treat it as theory drill between full past papers. First five free; Learners unlock the rest.
2026 KCSE Date For Geography Paper 1
From the KNEC 2026 KCSE timetable, Geography Paper 1 (312/1) is on Monday 16 November 2026, first session, 8.00 a.m. to 10.45 a.m. Paper 2 is on Wednesday 18 November in the morning. Physics papers share those afternoons, so geography candidates should lock morning revision for map skills and physical geography.
Topics In This Practice Set
Minerals and rocks, weathering, rivers and lakes, folding and volcanicity, climate and vegetation, soils, map scale, earth movements, glaciation and coasts, photograph and statistical skills, Kenyan relief and climate, arid landforms, oceans and weather instruments, earthquakes and coral. These are the “short answer bank” ideas that also feed longer structured questions on Paper 1.
Map Work You Still Must Practise Separately
Because this online set has no topographic extract, schedule at least two real map papers this week: six-figure grid references, distance using the scale, direction, cross-sections, and describing relief and drainage. Marks on the map section are often the easiest to secure if you drill the routine. Use school past papers or library copies — we do not rehost KNEC maps.
Theory Tips
- Always name a Kenyan example when you can: Magadi (soda ash), Mount Kenya (volcanic), laterites in humid areas.
- Separate process from landform: abrasion shapes mushroom rocks; the landform is the rock.
- For climate, altitude explains highland coolness better than “because it is Kenya”.
- In statistics questions, match the graph type to the purpose (pie for proportions).
Also try History and CRE, or return to KCSE past papers.
Physical Geography Quick Hooks
Link every process to a landform and a Kenyan or East African example where possible: vulcanicity → Mount Kenya; rift alkaline lakes → Magadi; residual ores → bauxite; wind abrasion → mushroom rocks. Examiners reward precise vocabulary (focus vs epicentre, corrie vs fiord). Say the definition in one sentence before you expand in an essay so you do not wander.
Photograph questions favour careful observation: foreground vs background, evidence of human activity, and a sensible title. Practise aloud with any landscape photo on your phone for two minutes a day this week.
Confirm the 16 November morning session on your school’s posted KNEC timetable, including any large-print timing adjustments that apply to you.
