About this paper

The real KNEC paper is structured and essay-based and lasts 2 hours 30 minutes — use this set to lock Bible story lines, themes and Christian living points before you write full essays. First five free with explanations.

2026 KCSE Date For CRE Paper 1

From the KNEC 2026 KCSE timetable, CRE Paper 1 (313/1) is on Tuesday 10 November 2026, first session, 8.00 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. (2 hours 30 minutes). IRE and HRE Paper 1 share that morning. CRE Paper 2 is on Wednesday 11 November in the morning — the same day as History Paper 1 in the afternoon for many candidates, so plan energy carefully.

What This Set Covers

Creation and the fall, Abraham and Moses, Sinai and the prophets, the Messiah, birth and baptism of Jesus, Sermon on the Mount, parables and miracles, death and resurrection, Pentecost and Paul, Christian living and worship, the church in Kenya, leisure, marriage and family, wealth, judgement and unity. Paper 1 often blends Old Testament, New Testament and selected contemporary issues; Paper 2 leans further into African heritage and selected themes — check your school’s current syllabus breakdown.

Turning MCQ Wins Into Essay Marks

After you mark, pick three weak topics and write a one-page essay outline for each: introduction with a definition or text reference, three developed points with a Bible example each, and a short conclusion that answers the question. KCSE CRE rewards relevance and illustration more than long preaching. Quote or paraphrase accurately; do not invent verse numbers.

Common Mistakes

  • Mixing Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 details without noticing the question’s focus.
  • Describing a miracle without stating what it revealed about Jesus.
  • Writing general morals with no biblical anchor.
  • Ignoring Kenyan church examples when the question asks for the church in society.

Text First, Application Second

Start every CRE essay with the biblical or doctrinal anchor the question expects, then apply it to family, wealth, leisure or the Kenyan church. Application without text reads like a guidance talk; text without application misses the “today” marks. Keep a list of six go-to passages (Creation, Exodus, a prophet, a parable, the cross/resurrection, Pentecost) with one sentence each on why they matter.

For Paper 1 on 10 November, sleep and morning calm matter as much as notes. Pack your admission materials the night before and leave doctrinal arguments that are not on the syllabus out of the answer booklet.

Confirm 10 November morning timing on the school noticeboard copy of the KNEC 2026 timetable, including any large-print or Braille adjustments.
