This is a December 2026 holiday homework pack for Grade 7, for parents to use at home. Schools began closing for the long holiday on 15 October 2026, and learners are home until early January 2027, when your child moves up to Grade 8 (Daily Nation, 18 October 2026, citing the Ministry of Education’s 2026 calendar).

Grade 7 was a big jump: nine learning areas, new subjects like Integrated Science and Pre-Technical Studies, and harder Mathematics. This pack revisits that first Junior School year so it sticks before Grade 8 builds on it. It covers prime factors, fractions, equations and speed in Mathematics, acids and bases, circuits and magnets in Integrated Science, and phrasal verbs and subject-verb agreement in English. Every question is new, written for this pack in Kenyan settings and matched to a strand in the KICD Grade 7 designs. Answers sit under each set behind a “Show answers” button.

Holiday Tuition Is Banned, Home Revision Is Not

Section 37 of the Basic Education Act, 2013 states that “No pupil shall be subjected to holiday tuition”, with penalties of up to KSh 100,000, a year in prison, or both. It is aimed at organised holiday classes. A learner revising on their own at home, with a parent checking, is not holiday tuition. This pack is for that kind of home use only.

How to Use This Pack

  • Thirty to forty minutes, three or four days a week. One learning area at a time.
  • Let them work independently. At twelve or thirteen, your child can do a set alone and mark it, while you look at the score and talk about the hardest question.
  • Keep a calculator out of Mathematics unless a question says otherwise. The working is the point.
  • Mark online or on paper. Online, tick or cross each answer and the score is saved to the account. The printable PDF has the answers at the back.

Mathematics

Strands covered: Numbers (whole numbers, factors, fractions, decimals, squares and square roots), Algebra (linear equations and inequalities), Measurements (Pythagoras, length, area, volume, speed, temperature, money), Geometry and Data Handling.

  4. Work out: (a) 2.4 × 0.35, (b) 7.56 ÷ 0.6.
  5. Find: (a) √(49/64), (b) 0.3², (c) √1.44.
  6. (a) Solve 3x − 7 = 2x + 5. (b) A pen costs x shillings and an exercise book costs KSh 30 more than the pen. Together they cost KSh 110. Form an equation and find the price of each.
  7. (a) Solve x + 3 > 7 and describe how you would show it on a number line. (b) List the whole numbers that satisfy −1 < x ≤ 3.
  8. A ladder 5 m long leans against a wall. Its top touches the wall 4 m above the ground. How far is the foot of the ladder from the wall?
  9. Take π = 22/7. (a) Find the circumference of a circle with diameter 14 cm. (b) Find the area of a circle with radius 7 cm. (c) Find the area of a trapezium whose parallel sides are 8 m and 12 m and whose height is 5 m.
  10. A cylindrical water tank has a radius of 0.7 m and a height of 2 m. Take π = 22/7. Find its volume in cubic metres, and its capacity in litres.
  11. (a) A bus leaves Nairobi and covers 180 km in 2 hours 30 minutes. Find its average speed in km/h. (b) Convert 72 km/h to metres per second. (c) Convert 25 °C to kelvin.
  12. (a) A trader buys a radio for KSh 2,400 and sells it for KSh 3,000. Find the profit and the percentage profit. (b) A pair of shoes is marked KSh 1,500, with a 10% discount. How much do you pay? (c) A mobile-money agent earns 5% commission on transactions worth KSh 40,000. How much commission is that?
  13. In a class of 36 learners, 18 walk to school, 12 use a matatu and 6 cycle. Find the angle each group gets on a pie chart.
Show answers: Mathematics
  1. (a) Four million, two hundred and fifty thousand, three hundred. (b) 500,000,000 (the hundred-millions digit is 4 and the next digit, 8, is 5 or more).
  2. (a) 360 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 3 × 5 = 2³ × 3² × 5. (b) 12 = 2² × 3 and 18 = 2 × 3², so GCD = 2 × 3 = 6 and LCM = 2² × 3² = 36. (c) After 36 minutes: 8:36 a.m.
  3. (a) 9/4 × 8/3 = 72/12 = 6. (b) 3/5 × 5/2 = 15/10 = 1 1/2.
  4. (a) 24 × 35 = 840, with 3 decimal places: 0.84. (b) 75.6 ÷ 6 = 12.6.
  5. (a) 7/8 (b) 0.09 (c) 1.2.
  6. (a) 3x − 2x = 5 + 7, so x = 12. (b) x + (x + 30) = 110, so 2x = 80, x = 40. Pen KSh 40, exercise book KSh 70.
  7. (a) x > 4: an open (empty) circle at 4 with an arrow pointing to the right. (b) 0, 1, 2, 3.
  8. 5² = 4² + d², so d² = 25 − 16 = 9 and d = 3 m.
  9. (a) C = πd = 22/7 × 14 = 44 cm. (b) A = πr² = 22/7 × 7 × 7 = 154 cm². (c) ½ × (8 + 12) × 5 = 50 m².
  10. V = πr²h = 22/7 × 0.7 × 0.7 × 2 = 3.08 m³. Since 1 m³ = 1,000 litres, capacity = 3,080 litres.
  11. (a) 180 ÷ 2.5 = 72 km/h. (b) 72 × 1,000 ÷ 3,600 = 20 m/s. (c) 25 + 273 = 298 K.
  12. (a) Profit = 3,000 − 2,400 = KSh 600; 600/2,400 × 100 = 25%. (b) 10% of 1,500 = 150, so pay KSh 1,350. (c) 5/100 × 40,000 = KSh 2,000.
  13. Walk: 18/36 × 360° = 180°. Matatu: 12/36 × 360° = 120°. Cycle: 6/36 × 360° = 60° (total 360°).

Getting Ready for Grade 8

Grade 8 builds straight on this year: integers, simple and compound interest and simultaneous equations in Mathematics, and the cell, elements and compounds in Integrated Science. The Grade 7 and 8 school-based assessments count for 20% of the senior school placement score, so read school-based assessment explained and our Grade 8 guide. For quick self-marking practice, try the Grade 7 CBC Challenge. More packs are on the holiday homework hub.
