Nyeri Good Shepherd Academy is a private school in Nyeri with a pre-school, a primary school and a Junior School, and boarding from Grade 4. It publishes a three-page 2026 Fees Structure (PDF) on its fee structures page. The PDF was created on 6 January 2026. All figures below come from that document, and this page is accurate as of October 2026.

Pre-School Fees 2026, KSh

PPG, PP1 and PP2 all cost KSh 27,500 in Term 1 and KSh 26,000 in Terms 2 and 3, a total of KSh 79,500 a year. The pre-school admission fee is KSh 1,000.

Reading the Figures

  • Term 1 is the heaviest term. In most classes, Term 1 is KSh 9,200–12,500 higher than Terms 2 and 3. The exceptions are pre-school (KSh 1,500 higher) and Grade 6 day scholars (KSh 2,200 higher). The document does not break the fee into items. In most schools the Term 1 extra covers yearly items such as books, insurance or activity charges, but ask the school what it covers here.
  • Grade 6 day fees jump in Terms 2 and 3 (KSh 50,500 against KSh 42,500 in Grade 5). The document gives no reason. Grade 6 is the KPSEA year, so ask whether the difference is for assessment or extra lessons (see KPSEA explained).
  • What boarding adds. For a Grade 7 learner, boarding costs KSh 73,500 more a year than day school (261,500 − 188,000). For Grades 8 and 9 the gap is KSh 69,500, and for Grade 4 it is KSh 84,500. That is our arithmetic.

What the Document Does Not Say

The fee structure lists totals only. It does not say whether meals, books, uniform, transport or trips are included, and it gives no payment account or paybill. It lists the phone numbers 0724970365 and 0708571888 and the email info@nyerigoodshepherdacademy.sc.ke. Before paying, ask the school for:

  • A breakdown of what the termly fee covers, especially for boarders.
  • The uniform price list and any book or stationery list.
  • The official bank account or paybill, in writing.
  • Any instalment or sibling-discount policy.

A First-Year Example

A new Grade 7 boarder would pay KSh 261,500 + 3,000 admission + 1,000 caution = KSh 265,500 in the first year before uniform and personal items. A new Grade 7 day scholar would pay KSh 192,000. This is our arithmetic.

How It Compares

Public junior schools are funded through capitation and charge day learners no tuition (JSS fees and capitation). Public primary schools are also free for day pupils. Few private schools outside Nairobi publish full fee documents, which makes this a useful benchmark for central Kenya. For boarding decisions, read boarding vs day costs. For other schools, see private CBC school fees and the fees hub. If the cost of private school has you rethinking the household budget, BusinessRadar’s school fees planning guide covers saving and payment options.
