Peponi School is a private international secondary school for pupils aged 13 to 18, set on a 50-acre campus at Ruiru, just north of Nairobi. The school says it is about thirty minutes from central Nairobi at Junction 11 on the A2 (Thika Road), and it runs daily and weekly buses to the main areas of Nairobi. Peponi takes pupils in Years 9 to 13, which it calls Shell, Lower Fifth (LV), Upper Fifth (UV), Lower Sixth (LVI) and Upper Sixth (UVI). Its sister schools, Peponi House and Peponi House Kabete Kindergarten, cover the younger years.
Peponi does not publish a PDF. The figures below come from the “School Fees & Charges in effect from September 2026” table on its admissions page. This article is accurate as of October 2026.
On this page
Fees per Term from September 2026, KSh
There are three terms a year, and the fee is the same for every year group from Year 9 to Year 13.
| Option | Per term | Per year (3 terms) |
|---|---|---|
| Full boarding | 1,453,870 | 4,361,610 |
| Weekly boarding | 1,373,495 | 4,120,485 |
| Day pupil | 976,370 | 2,929,110 |
The yearly column is our arithmetic. Full boarding costs KSh 477,500 a term more than day, and weekly boarding (home at weekends) KSh 397,125 more. So the weekend at home saves a family only about KSh 80,375 a term against full boarding. For families within reach of a Peponi bus route, day schooling is the option that changes the bill most.
The admissions page does not say what the termly fee covers, for example whether lunch for day pupils, exam entries or trips are included. Ask the Registrar for the full list of inclusions and extras before you accept a place.
Entry Charges (One-Off), KSh
| Charge | Amount |
|---|---|
| Registration fee | 7,500 |
| Acceptance fee | 15,000 |
| Caution deposit (refundable), Kenyan residents | 500,000 |
| Caution deposit (refundable), non-Kenyan residents | 700,000 |
| Pupil’s pass (only for pupils whose parents are not Kenyan citizens and not resident in Kenya) | 10,000 |
The caution deposit is the item that catches families out. At KSh 500,000 for Kenyan residents, it is more than half a term’s day fees, and it is paid on top of the first term. It is refundable, but you need the cash up front.
Sibling Discount
Peponi gives a sibling discount of 5% for the second child and 10% for subsequent siblings on the day/tuition fee. It applies across all the Peponi schools. The eldest child pays full fees, and the discounts follow age order. Applied to the day fee, 5% is about KSh 48,819 a term and 10% about KSh 97,637. The page does not say whether the discount also reduces the boarding part of a boarder’s fee, so confirm this with the school.
How Admission Works
- Complete an enquiry form and return it to the Registrar.
- Visit the school. Peponi offers individual family tours on weekday mornings, usually including a meeting with the Headmaster.
- Fill in the application form and pay the registration fee to put your child on the prospective list for the chosen year of entry. The school will advise on any other documents or assessments.
- If a place is offered, accept it formally and pay the caution deposit.
When we checked, the site was advertising a Peponi School Open Day on Friday 23 October 2026 (8:30 am to 11:30 am) and open applications for 13+ scholarships. Scholarships can change the arithmetic a great deal, so it is worth asking about them early.
A First-Year Example
A Kenyan-resident family sending one child as a full boarder from September 2026 would pay 7,500 registration + 15,000 acceptance + 500,000 caution deposit + 4,361,610 for three terms = KSh 4,884,110 in the first year, of which KSh 500,000 is refundable. That is before uniform, transport, trips and any exam fees that are billed separately. This is our arithmetic.
How It Compares
A year of full boarding at Peponi costs about 81 times the government cap for a public boarding senior school, KSh 53,554 a year (senior school fees 2026; see also boarding vs day school costs). Among Nairobi international schools we have checked, compare Light International School Karen, where Year 10 boarding and tuition come to KSh 2,773,700 a year with charges, and Braeburn Gitanga Road (day only). For every school we have checked, see the fees hub.
