Braeburn School Gitanga Road is the Lavington, Nairobi campus of the Braeburn group of private schools. Its curriculum is based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales, running from Creche and Nursery through to Year 13. It is not a CBC (CBE) school, so the year groups below do not map one-to-one onto Kenyan grades. Braeburn publishes a termly fees structure for September 2026 to August 2027 (PDF). Every figure on this page comes from that sheet, and the page is accurate as of October 2026.

All fees are in Kenya shillings per term, billed in August, December and April. The one exception is Years 11, 12 and 13, which are billed in two instalments (see below).

Key Stage 4Year 10834,80049,200884,000

The last column is our addition. Over three terms, Years 3–6 come to KSh 2,385,000 a year for tuition and lunch, and Year 10 to KSh 2,652,000.

The biggest step is between Reception and Year 1, where tuition roughly doubles from KSh 366,600 to KSh 750,000 a term. Tuition then stays flat from Year 1 to Year 6, so families with a child entering Year 1 already know the primary tuition rate for the next six years at current prices.

Years 11, 12 and 13: Two Instalments, KSh

The sheet says Years 11 to 13 are “billed as an annual fee in two tranches, August and December.” The figures below are therefore per instalment, not per term.

Year groupTuition per instalmentLunch per instalmentYear (two instalments)
Year 111,252,20073,8002,652,000
Year 121,339,60073,8002,826,800
Year 131,339,60073,8002,826,800

As a check, two Year 11 instalments (KSh 2,504,400 tuition, KSh 147,600 lunch) equal exactly three terms of Year 10 tuition and lunch. Parents are paying the same yearly rate, but more of it falls before the new year. Years 11 and 13 are exam years, and examination fees are not included (see below).

The fee sheet does not list which estates fall in each zone. Ask the school’s transport office for the zone that covers your home. A second and each further sibling on the same route gets 50% off transport.

Registration, Deposit and What Is Not Included

  • Registration fee: KSh 5,000, non-refundable, paid with the completed registration form.
  • Advance payment: on accepting a place, 20% of the first term’s tuition is paid in advance and offset against the first invoice. It is not refunded if the place is not taken up. For Year 3, that is KSh 150,000.
  • Deposit: KSh 50,000, charged once on joining. It must be topped up if deductions are made for losses or breakages, and the balance is refunded at the end of the pupil’s final term after clearance by the headteacher.
  • Included: the sheet says termly fees are fully inclusive of all approved textbooks and exercise books.
  • Not included: enrolment fees, any examination fees, and activity fees. Activity fees are charged separately, normally with a letter from the headteacher.

Discounts, Penalties and Notice

  • Early payment: 3% off tuition when the full payment is made within six days of the due date. Fees are due on or before the first day of term. On Year 3–6 tuition, 3% is KSh 22,500 a term.
  • Family discount on tuition: 10% for the 2nd child, 20% for the 3rd, 30% for the 4th, and 40% for the 5th and each later child.
  • Late payment: a surcharge of 1.25% a month.
  • Withdrawal: a full term’s written notice, acknowledged in writing by the headteacher, or a full term’s fees in lieu.
  • Fee changes: the board may alter fees at five months’ notice.

A First-Year Example

A new Year 7 pupil starting in September 2026, with lunch and Zone B return transport, would pay 3 × (775,700 + 48,500 + 76,800) = 2,703,000 in termly charges + 5,000 registration + 50,000 deposit = KSh 2,758,000 for the year, before activity fees, uniform and any discounts. The 20% advance is part of the first term’s tuition, not an extra charge. This is our arithmetic from the published rates.

How It Compares

For scale, the government cap for a public boarding senior school is KSh 53,554 a year (see senior school fees 2026). A single term of Year 1 tuition at Braeburn Gitanga Road is about 14 times that annual cap. Also on Gitanga Road, Rusinga School charges KSh 326,000 a term for Years 4–6. For another international option outside Nairobi, see Naisula School. All the schools we have checked are on the fees hub.

If you are budgeting for a move to an international school, salaries matter as much as fees. JobinKenya lists current vacancies across Nairobi.
