St. Christopher’s International School is a private British-curriculum day and boarding school in Karen, Nairobi, running from Kindergarten to Year 13 (Sixth Form). It follows the Cambridge (CAIE) curriculum, with Checkpoint, IGCSE, A Level and BTEC exams, and says it has been open for more than 40 years. Its Fee Structure 2026-2027 Academic Year (PDF), uploaded to the school website in June 2026, is the source for every figure below. All charges are in Kenya shillings. This page is accurate as of October 2026.

The sheet gives fees per term only. The yearly figures are three times the termly fee, or two times for Years 11 to 13, which the sheet says are charged in Terms 1 and 2 only. On that reading a Year 11 year comes to KSh 110,000 less than Year 10, but each of the two payments is far larger. Confirm the billing schedule with the bursar if you are planning cash flow.

The biggest jump is from Reception to Year 1: tuition almost doubles, rising by KSh 168,000 a term. There are smaller steps at Year 4 (+KSh 85,000 a term) and Year 10 (+KSh 48,000). The sheet does not say what tuition includes, for example lunch, books or exam entries. Ask before comparing with schools that state their inclusions.

Boarding

Full boarding is offered from Year 5 to Year 13 at KSh 355,000 a term, on top of tuition. Over three terms that is KSh 1,065,000. The sheet asks families to contact the school for weekly and flexi boarding options, which are not priced on it.

Each caution amount is followed by “and as required”, so the school may ask for more. Ask what triggers a top-up and how refunds are made.

Zones 1 and 2 cost the same, as do Zones 3 and 4. Even the nearest families pay KSh 285,000 a year for two-way door-to-door transport. That is more than many Kenyan private schools charge in tuition.

Admission and Fee Rules

  • New pupils are admitted to class only after full school fees have been paid up front.
  • Fees are reviewed every year by the Board of Directors. The school says changes are communicated to parents one term in advance.
  • The sheet gives no bank or M-Pesa details. Get them in writing from the school’s accounts office, and pay only into an account in the school’s name.

Two First-Year Examples

A new Year 7 day pupil from Karen (Zone 1, two way): 1,572,000 tuition + 7,000 application + 2,000 registration + 70,000 caution + 285,000 transport = KSh 1,936,000.

A new Year 10 full boarder: 1,716,000 tuition + 1,065,000 boarding + 7,000 + 2,000 + 70,000 caution + 80,000 boarding caution = KSh 2,940,000. Both are our arithmetic, before uniform, trips, exam entries and activities. The KSh 150,000 in caution money should come back.

How It Compares

St. Christopher’s sits at the upper end of Nairobi’s British-curriculum schools. Year 7 tuition here is about 1.9 times that at Riara International School (KSh 814,500 a year). It is close to Light International School Karen, where Year 7 tuition is KSh 1,426,000 a year, and below Braeburn Gitanga Road, where it is KSh 775,700 a term. For CBC families weighing a switch, private CBC junior schools such as Riara Junior charge about KSh 150,000 a term, and public junior schools charge nothing.
