Riara International School is the British-curriculum school of the Riara Group of Schools, the Nairobi group that also runs CBC kindergartens, primary, junior and senior schools. It runs on an academic year from September to July, from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to Year 11. The group published a Fees Structure September 2026/July 2027 (PDF) on its fees page, dated August 2026. Every figure below comes from it. This page is accurate as of October 2026.

Every yearly total checks out against the termly fees. Year 11 pays the same year’s fee as Year 10, but in two instalments, at the start of Term 1 and the start of Term 2, because IGCSE students finish early. That means a Year 11 family must find KSh 441,300 at once, twice.
The steepest rise is into Year 1: KSh 59,500 a term more than EYFS 3. Year 2 then adds KSh 27,000 more. After that, increases are gentler, and Year 7 is KSh 24,900 a term above Year 6. Riara labels Reception as EYFS 2 and adds an EYFS 3 class at the same price. Ask which age goes into which class.
What the fee covers: tuition, lunch and exercise books. It excludes external examination fees, termly educational trips within Nairobi County (to be advised) and optional activities such as piano, guitar, skating, taekwondo, go-karting and horse riding. Unlike Riara’s CBC schools, textbooks, French, swimming and coding are not listed as included, so ask what is.

The sheet does not say whether workbooks are charged once a year or each term. Confirm before you budget.
Other Charges, KSh

- Caution (one-off, refundable on conditions): 15,000
- Student accident insurance cover (annual): 2,000
- Sports T-shirt, round-neck T-shirt, polo shirt and tracksuit: 9,000
- Out of the Blocks (prep school): 2,000. The sheet does not say how often. On Riara’s CBC primary sheets it is termly.
A non-refundable reservation fee of KSh 30,000 is due on confirmation of admission. It is credited to fees. Students in Years 6, 9 and 11 pay external exam fees at the beginning of Term 2. The amount is not on the sheet.
Transport per Term, KSh
The transport table, dated October 2025, is the same as Riara’s Riara Road schools. Special zone (Riara Road, Junction, Riara Woods): 14,900 one or two way. Zone 1 (Lavington, Kilimani roads, Woodley): 21,700 / 31,700. Zone 3 (Westlands, Loresho, South C, Lang’ata): 29,800 / 39,900. Zone 5 (Runda, Muthaiga North, Kiambu, Kasarani): 33,900 / 48,300. A Worked Example: New Year 7, Zone 3 Two-Way Transport
For 2026/27: 814,500 fees + 2,100 application + 5,000 registration + 15,000 caution + 2,000 insurance + 9,000 sports kit + 5,000 workbooks (if charged once) + 119,700 transport = KSh 972,300, before trips, exams and optional activities. This is our arithmetic.
How to Pay and Terms
- M-Pesa paybill 805700 with the student’s admission number, or The Riara Group of Schools Limited’s accounts at KCB, ABSA, Standard Chartered or NCBA (listed on the PDF). No cash at the office. Email slips to fees@riaraschools.ac.ke.
- Fees are due in full on or before the first day of term. After 30 days, 3% interest per month applies. Paid fees are non-refundable.
- Caution money is refunded after the final year, or on withdrawal with a term’s written notice, after deductions.
How It Compares
Riara’s Year 7 costs KSh 814,500 a year. That is KSh 146,262 more than Makini Cambridge Runda and KSh 187,047 more than Makini Cambridge Ngong Road. It is still well below St. Christopher’s International School in Karen, where Year 7 is KSh 524,000 a term. Riara’s own CBC Riara Junior School charges KSh 151,600 a term for Grade 7 (2026), with more listed inclusions. Every school we have checked is on the fees hub.
