Alongside its CBE schools, the private Makini School group runs a Cambridge curriculum school on Ngong Road, Nairobi, from Early Years to Year 11 (IGCSE). The Makini group was founded in 1978 and has campuses in Nairobi and Kisumu. The Cambridge section works on an academic year rather than a calendar year. Its Fee Structure 2026/2027, Cambridge Curriculum, Ngong’ Road (PDF), linked from Makini’s fees page, is the source for all figures below. This page is accurate as of October 2026.

The admission table on the PDF is headed “2025/2026”, although the document is titled 2026/2027. The amounts differ from the CBE sheets (for example, the CBE refundable deposit is KSh 13,500), so confirm the current admission charges with Accounts before paying. An “Examination fee” line appears on the sheet with no amount. Cambridge exam entries for Year 11 are therefore not costed here.

Extra Sports and Clubs, KSh

These are optional, and the sheet does not say whether the prices are per term:

  • Extra sports and co-curricular: karate 3,000; horse riding 7,000; taekwondo 5,000; skating 4,000; golf 7,000.
  • After school and weekends: soccer 6,000; basketball 4,500; swimming 7,000; table tennis 4,000; chess 4,000.
  • Clubs and music: French, ICT, drama and art/craft 4,000 each; music/instruments 8,000.

Co-curricular activities and transport are booked and paid for through Makini Digital. The school’s 2026 transport rates for Ngong Road are set out in our Makini Junior School Ngong Road article.

Discounts and Payment

  • Sibling discount: 5% from the fourth child, on the youngest sibling’s tuition.
  • Annual discount: 5% for paying the year’s fees in advance. On Year 10 that is about KSh 34,581.
  • ABSA Bank Kenya, Hurlingham, account 0451200518, The Makini Schools Ltd; or M-Pesa paybill 932271. Use the child’s file number (up to six digits) as the reference.
  • Fees are due on the first day of each term. Withdrawal requires a term’s notice and a transfer request through Makini’s customer service ticket system.

A First-Year Example

A new Year 7 pupil would pay 627,453 tuition + 18,318 book levy + 2,050 application + 2,733 admission + 13,200 deposit + 3,000 PTA + 1,800 insurance + 600 ID card + 600 diary = KSh 669,754, before uniform, transport, activities and exam fees. This is our arithmetic.

How It Compares

Makini’s Cambridge Year 7 (KSh 209,151 a term) costs more than its CBE Junior School on the same road (KSh 144,681 for Grade 7 in 2027). It is still far below the big international schools: Light International School Karen charges KSh 1,426,000 a year in tuition for Years 7–8. For Makini’s CBE primary on Ngong Road, see Makini Primary Ngong Road fees. Every school we have checked is listed on the fees hub.
