Makini Senior and High School in Runda, Nairobi, is the senior section of the private Makini School group. In 2027 it will teach the CBE senior school (Grade 10 and the first-ever Grade 11 class) alongside the last 8-4-4 class, Form 4, who sit KCSE that year. In October 2026 Makini posted 2027 fee structures on its fees page. This article uses the Makini Senior and High School Runda fee structure 2027 (PDF) and the Runda campus 2026 transport sheet (PDF). Three times KSh 152,258 is KSh 456,774. The published total is KSh 1 higher, presumably because of rounding. The tuition fee includes lunch, tea break, computer, games and swimming, and chess. The document lists no boarding charge, so treat these as day fees, and ask the school if you need boarding.
The same fee for all three classes stands out. CBC Grade 10 and 11 students study a chosen pathway and subject combination, while Form 4 students are finishing KCSE. Makini prices them identically.

Entry charges here differ from Makini’s Junior School on Ngong Road. Runda has a KSh 11,395 non-refundable admission fee and a KSh 11,395 deposit, against KSh 2,720 registration and a KSh 13,500 deposit at Ngong Road, and a lower PTA fund (KSh 500 against 1,000 a term). Ask whether a student moving up from a Makini junior school pays the full admission fee again.

2027 transport rates were not yet posted when we checked. Transport needs an approved application form (transport office +254 701 807 681 or +254 113 832 555). From Zone 5, two-way transport costs KSh 192,000 a year at 2026 rates, which is 42% of tuition.
Discounts and Payment
- 5% sibling discount on tuition from the fourth child (applied to the youngest), and 5% for paying the year’s fees in advance (about KSh 22,840 here).
- ABSA Bank Kenya, Hurlingham branch, account 0451200518, The Makini School Limited; or M-Pesa paybill 932271. Use the student’s file number as the reference in both cases.
- Fees are due on the first day of each term, before the student is admitted to class. Accounts: 0719 232 887.
A First-Year Example
A new Grade 10 student in 2027: 456,775 tuition + 2,280 application + 11,395 admission + 11,395 refundable deposit + 3,300 PTA and insurance + 500 diary = KSh 485,645, before uniform, books and transport. This is our arithmetic.
How It Compares
A public day senior school charges no tuition, and a public boarding senior school may charge parents at most KSh 53,554 a year (Gazette Notice No. 1449 of 2026; see senior school fees 2026).
