Makini Senior School Kisumu City is the CBE senior school of the private Makini School group in Kisumu. The group also runs a primary school, a junior school and a Migosi campus in the city. In 2027 the senior school will teach Grade 10 and the first Grade 11 class. Makini posted its 2027 fee structures on its fees page in October 2026. The Grade 10 total checks out exactly. For Grade 11, three times KSh 74,527 is KSh 223,581, KSh 1 more than the published total, presumably because of rounding. Tuition includes lunch, tea break, computer, games and swimming, and chess. No boarding charge is listed, so these are day fees.
The striking point is the gap with Nairobi. Makini’s Runda senior school charges KSh 152,258 a term in 2027 (see Makini Runda fees). The Kisumu Grade 10 fee is less than half of that, under the same name and the same inclusions on paper.

The KSh 1,250 termly activity fee does not appear on the Nairobi senior document. Termly extras here total KSh 2,850, or KSh 8,550 a year.

Two-way transport is only about KSh 1,500 more than one way in most zones, so it is usually worth taking both legs. Transport needs an approved application (transport office +254 741 918 054). 2027 rates had not been posted when we checked.
Discounts and Payment
- 5% sibling discount on tuition from the fourth child (applied to the youngest), and 5% for paying the year’s fees in advance (about KSh 10,650 on Grade 10 tuition).

- Fees are due on the first day of each term. Accounts: 0719 232 887.
A First-Year Example
A new Grade 10 student in 2027: 212,934 tuition + 2,040 application + 2,720 registration + 13,500 refundable deposit + 8,550 PTA, activity and insurance + 500 diary = KSh 240,244. Add two-way Zone 2 transport (KSh 46,548 a year at 2026 rates) for about KSh 286,792. This is our arithmetic, before uniform and books.
How It Compares
Public day senior schools charge no tuition, and public boarding schools may charge at most KSh 53,554 a year (Gazette Notice No. 1449 of 2026; senior school fees 2026).
