The Makini School is a private school group founded in 1978, with campuses in Nairobi and Kisumu. Its Junior School on Ngong Road teaches the Kenyan CBE (CBC) curriculum for Grades 7 to 9. In October 2026 Makini replaced the fee documents on its fees page with structures for 2027, so this article covers the 2027 fees that apply from January. Figures come from the Makini Junior School Ngong Road CBE fee structure 2027 (PDF) and the campus’s 2026 transport charges (PDF). This page is accurate as of October 2026.

Three times the termly figure is KSh 434,043 for Grade 7 and KSh 455,052 for Grades 8 and 9. The published totals are KSh 1 lower, presumably because of rounding. Use the termly figure for each payment. Makini charges the same amount in all three terms.

The tuition fee includes lunch, tea break, computer, games and swimming, and chess.

Discounts

  • Sibling discount: 5% off tuition, from the fourth child only, applied to the youngest sibling.
  • Annual discount: 5% for paying the year’s fees in advance. On Grade 8 tuition, that saves about KSh 22,750.

How to Pay

  • ABSA Bank Kenya, Hurlingham branch, account 0451200518, The Makini School Limited.
  • M-Pesa paybill 932271, account: the student’s file number.

Always quote the student’s file number (numeric, up to six digits) so that Accounts can allocate the payment. Fees are due on the first day of each term, before the student is admitted to class. Accounts department: 0719 232 887.

A First-Year Example

A new Grade 7 learner in 2027 would pay 434,042 tuition + 2,040 application + 2,720 registration + 13,500 refundable deposit + 4,800 PTA and insurance (three terms) + 500 diary = KSh 457,602, before uniform, books and transport. With two-way Zone 3 transport (KSh 114,159 a year at 2026 rates), the total is about KSh 571,761. This is our arithmetic.

How It Compares

Public junior schools are funded through capitation and charge day learners no tuition (JSS fees and capitation). Among the CBC private day schools we have checked, Makini Ngong Road is near the top. Compare it with Riara Junior School nearby, or see Makini’s own Senior School in Runda for what comes after Grade 9. For more schools, see private CBC school fees and the fees hub.
