The private Riara Group of Schools in Nairobi runs two kindergarten-and-primary schools: Riara Kindergarten & Primary, whose nearest bus zone is Riara Road and the Junction, and Riara Springs Kindergarten & Primary, whose nearest zone is Sunrise, Oak Park and Imara Gardens on the Imara Daima side. Each has its own 2026 fee structure, dated October 2025. We read both side by side. The fees per term are identical. What differs is the PTA subscription and, most of all, transport. Sources: the Riara Kindergarten & Primary 2026 fee structure (PDF) and the Riara Springs Kindergarten & Primary 2026 fee structure (PDF), from Riara’s fees page. This page is accurate as of October 2026.

Fees per Term, 2026 (Both Schools), KSh

ClassPer termPer year, three terms (our arithmetic)
Playgroup58,900176,700
Reception class90,100270,300
Pre-Primary 1 (PP1)96,500289,500
Pre-Primary 2 (PP2)99,300297,900
Grades 1–2112,000336,000
Grades 3–4122,700368,100
Grades 5–6131,100393,300

The sheets give a fee per term only. The yearly figures assume three equal terms, which the sheets do not say outright. Riara lists a Reception class between Playgroup and PP1, which is not a standard CBC level. Ask which age it is meant for. The largest step is from Playgroup to Reception (KSh 31,200 a term). Starting Grade 1 adds KSh 12,700 a term over PP2.

What the fee covers: tuition, lunch, textbooks, exercise books, French, computer lessons, sports, swimming, and coding and robotics. Few schools include textbooks and exercise books, so compare like with like. Optional activities such as musical instruments, horse riding, GP karting, karate and chess are charged separately.

Other Charges, KSh

The sheets do not explain “Out of the Blocks”. It is a termly KSh 2,000 for PP1 to Grade 4, so KSh 6,000 a year. Both schools also charge a non-refundable KSh 10,000 reservation fee on confirming admission, but it is credited to school fees, so it is an advance, not an extra.

Zone numbers are not comparable between the two schools, because each one counts outwards from its own site. Each table lists many more estates, so check the PDF for your road. Return the Transport Request Form from the school office to subscribe.

Two First-Year Examples

A new Grade 1 child at Riara Springs from Fedha (Zone 2, two way): 336,000 fees + 2,100 + 4,000 + 10,000 caution + 500 + 1,500 PTA + 6,000 Out of the Blocks + 8,000 kit + 2,000 cover + 79,500 transport = KSh 449,600.

A new PP1 child at Riara Road from Lavington (Zone 1, two way): 289,500 + 2,100 + 4,000 + 500 + 1,300 + 6,000 + 6,200 kit + 2,000 + 95,100 transport = KSh 406,700. Kindergarten pays no caution fee. Both figures are our arithmetic, before optional activities.

How to Pay and Terms

  • M-Pesa paybill 805700, with the learner’s admission number as the account, or the group’s KCB, ABSA, Standard Chartered and NCBA accounts in the name of The Riara Group of Schools Limited. No cash is accepted at the school office.
  • Email the pay-in slip to fees@riaraschools.ac.ke for a receipt.
  • Fees are due in full on or before the first day of term. 3% interest a month applies to amounts still unpaid 30 days into the term, which is steep. Fees paid are non-refundable.
  • The caution fee is refunded after the final year, or on withdrawal with one term’s written notice, after deductions for losses and balances.

How They Compare

Grade 6 at either Riara school costs KSh 131,100 a term. Moving to Riara Junior School or Riara Springs Junior School for Grade 7 adds KSh 20,500 a term. Makini’s Primary Ngong Road charges KSh 107,526 a term for Grade 1 in 2027 without textbooks in its list of inclusions. Riara’s 2026 fee is KSh 112,000 with textbooks and exercise books included. Public primary schools charge no tuition. More schools are on the fees hub.
