Riara Springs Junior School is the Grade 7 to 9 school on the Riara Group of Schools’ Riara Springs campus in Nairobi. Its nearest bus zone covers Sunrise, Oak Park, Imara Gardens and Amara Park on the Imara Daima side of the city. The group publishes a separate 2026 fee structure for it, dated October 2025. All figures below come from that document, the Riara Springs Junior School fee structure 2026 (PDF) on Riara’s fees page. This page is accurate as of October 2026.

Fees per Term, 2026, KSh

GradeFee per termPer year, three terms (our arithmetic)
Grade 7151,600454,800
Grade 8158,600475,800
Grade 9161,100483,300

These are exactly the same termly fees as Riara Junior School, the group’s other junior school. Unlike many schools, Riara raises the fee each year of junior school, so Grade 9 costs KSh 9,500 a term more than Grade 7. At 2026 prices, the three junior school years add up to KSh 1,413,900 in fees alone. Riara also says fees are reviewed every year, so later years may cost more.

What the fee covers: tuition, lunch, textbooks, exercise books, French, computer lessons, sports, swimming, and coding and robotics. Optional activities such as musical instruments, extra sports, horse riding, karate and chess are charged separately.

Other Charges, KSh

ItemKSh
Application (one-off)2,100
Registration (one-off)4,000
Caution fee (one-off, refundable on conditions)10,000
PTA membership (per family)500
PTA annual subscription (per family)1,500
Sports T-shirt, round-neck T-shirt, tracksuit, polo shirt9,000
Student accident cover and ambulance (annual)2,000

The one difference from Riara Junior School is the PTA annual subscription: KSh 1,500 here and KSh 1,300 there. A non-refundable KSh 10,000 reservation fee is payable on confirmation of admission, but it is credited to fees.

Transport Charges per Term, KSh

Zone (examples of areas)One way, morningOne way, eveningTwo way
Special (Sunrise, Oak Park, Imara Gardens, Amara Park)13,90013,90013,900
1 (Imara Daima, Villa Franca, Tsavo Park, Turtle Dove)16,50015,80022,300
2 (Pipeline, Fedha, Tassia, Nyayo Embakasi, Eagle Plains)19,90018,70028,100
3 (South B, Donholm, Savannah, Jericho, Harambee)30,60024,90038,300
4 (Bustani, Sawada, Muthama Heights, KAPA)33,30025,80040,000
5 (South C, Komarock, Kayole, Syokimau, Mlolongo)35,00026,70042,200
6 (Lang’ata, Southlands, Nairobi West, Madaraka)38,50030,60046,400
7 (Kitengela, Athi River, Utawala)41,40031,70048,200
8 (Kamakis, Versity Ville, Ruiru Sunrise)49,20045,90054,500

Two points stand out. In the special zone, one way and two way cost the same, so take two way. Elsewhere, the morning trip costs more than the evening trip, and two way costs well under twice the morning price. Junior school transport is also a little dearer than on the Riara Springs primary sheet for the same areas, for example KSh 28,100 against KSh 26,500 two way in Zone 2. Over a year, transport ranges from KSh 41,700 (special zone) to KSh 163,500 (Zone 8, two way).

A Worked Example: New Grade 7, Zone 2 Two-Way Transport

Year one: 454,800 fees + 2,100 + 4,000 + 10,000 caution + 500 + 1,500 PTA + 9,000 kit + 2,000 cover + 84,300 transport (28,100 × 3) = KSh 568,200. This is our arithmetic from the published figures, before optional activities, uniform beyond the sports kit, and any fee review.

How to Pay and Terms

  • M-Pesa paybill 805700, with the learner’s admission number as the account, or the bank accounts of The Riara Group of Schools Limited at KCB (1118056418, Prestige), ABSA (094-2388683, Queensway House), Standard Chartered (0102023481300, Kenyatta Avenue) or NCBA (1306770224, Junction).
  • Send the pay-in slip to fees@riaraschools.ac.ke for a receipt. No cash at the school office.
  • Fees are due in full by the first day of term. After 30 days, unpaid amounts attract 3% interest per month. Paid fees are non-refundable.
  • Caution money is returned after the final year, or on withdrawal with one term’s written notice and after clearing balances. Without notice, it is forfeited.

How It Compares

Children moving up from Riara Springs Kindergarten & Primary go from KSh 131,100 a term in Grade 6 to KSh 151,600 in Grade 7. Public junior schools charge no fees and may not levy lunch fees, because the government pays capitation (JSS fees and capitation). Makini’s 2027 junior school fees for comparison are KSh 151,554 a term at Runda and KSh 144,681 at Ngong Road. More schools are on the fees hub.
