Hillcrest International School is a private British-curriculum school in Langata, Nairobi, running from Play Group through Year 13. It is not a CBC school, so the year groups below do not map one-to-one onto Kenyan grades. Hillcrest publishes a termly fees structure for September 2026 to August 2027 (PDF), also linked from its fee structure page. Every figure on this page comes from that sheet. Accurate as of October 2026.

Fees are billed per term in August, December and April, and must be paid by the first day of term. Years 11, 12 and 13 are the exception: they are billed as an annual fee in two tranches (August and December).

The sheet says fees include learning materials, and lunch plus daytime snacks, for Early Years and Prep School only. Lunch is charged separately from Year 9 onwards. Registration and examination fees are not included. The “included” lunch rows above are our reading of that note; Years 7–8 show N/A for lunch on the sheet, which matches Prep inclusion through Year 8.

Years 11–13: the tuition and lunch figures in the table are per instalment, not per term. Two Year 11 instalments (KSh 3,040,200 tuition + KSh 140,400 lunch) equal exactly three terms of Year 10 tuition and lunch, so the yearly rate does not jump — more of it is due before the new year.

Sheet slip to flag: the boarding-deposit column prints KSh 28,995 for Year 9 and KSh 28,955 for Years 7–8 and 10–13. That is a 40-shilling difference on an otherwise identical figure. Ask the school which amount applies.

Registration, Discounts and Penalties

  • Registration: KSh 5,000, non-refundable, with the completed registration form.
  • Sibling discount: 10% of tuition for the 2nd and any subsequent child.
  • Late fees: outstanding fees attract a 2% surcharge per month. The school may require a child to stop attending classes if fees remain unpaid.
  • Notice: a full term’s written notice, acknowledged by the headteacher, is required to withdraw; otherwise a full term’s fees are payable and the caution deposit is retained.
  • Extras: trips and activities outside the standard programme are billed separately by letter.

Two First-Year Examples

A new Year 1 day pupil: 463,500 × 3 = KSh 1,390,500 tuition (lunch included) + 5,000 registration + 25,000 deposit = KSh 1,420,500 in year one. Of that, KSh 25,000 is the refundable deposit.

A new Year 7 full boarder: 905,600 × 3 tuition + 378,000 × 3 boarding + 5,000 + 50,000 deposit + 28,955 boarding deposit ≈ KSh 4,010,755. Transport and exam fees are extra.

How It Compares

Hillcrest sits below Braeburn and above Rusinga on Year 1 tuition among Nairobi British-curriculum schools on this site. More are on the fees hub.
