Light Academy Secondary Mombasa, in Nyali, is the coastal school of the Light Group of Schools, which also runs Light Academy Nairobi. It offers CBE Junior School (Grades 7–9) and Senior School (Grade 10), alongside the remaining 8-4-4 Forms 3 and 4, for day scholars and boarders. Unlike the Nairobi campus, Grade 9 in Mombasa is billed over three terms. Form 4 is billed as an annual fee in two instalments, in Terms 1 and 2.

A new boarder therefore pays KSh 63,500 in once-off charges (our arithmetic). Where places are limited, the school may also require a 20% advance of the tuition fee as part of the first term’s fees. It is non-refundable if the place is forfeited.

Key Terms
- Fees are billed in December, April and August, and must be paid in full 15 working days before each term.
- Sibling discount on tuition: 5% for the second child, 10% for the third, 15% for the fourth and later children.
- One full term’s written notice is needed to withdraw a child. Otherwise a term’s fees is payable in lieu of notice.
- The school may keep a student out of class, and withhold documents, until balances are cleared.
How It Compares
Light Academy Mombasa’s Grade 10 boarding total is roughly two-thirds of the Nairobi campus’s (about KSh 1,038,000), but still more than twelve times the KSh 53,554 public boarding ceiling under Gazette Notice No. 1449 (senior school fees 2026).
