Nairobi International School (NIS) is a private international day and boarding school in Nairobi. It runs from Playgroup through Year 13 on a British-style year structure, not CBC grades. The school posts a Fee Structure 2026/2027 (PDF) on its site. We re-downloaded that file from the school server on 19 October 2026 (last modified 12 May 2026). Every figure below comes from that sheet. The page is accurate as of October 2026.
What the sheet does not say. It lists tuition, boarding and transport clearly, but it does not say whether tuition includes meals, books or activities, and it does not print term dates. Confirm inclusions and the term calendar with the school before you budget.

Year 11 and Sixth Form (Years 12–13) are billed in two instalments only; Term 3 is marked NIL. Year 11’s two billings of KSh 630,000 add up to the same KSh 1,260,000 as three terms of Year 10, so the yearly tuition rate does not jump — more of it falls earlier in the year. Years 12–13 cost KSh 1,320,000 a year at two billings of KSh 660,000.

Application and admission are for new students. Caution is one-off; the sheet does not say whether it is refundable.
Boarding and Transport per Term, KSh
Full-time boarding is KSh 300,000 a term; weekly boarding is KSh 250,000. Boarders also pay a one-off boarding admission fee of KSh 10,000 and a boarding caution of KSh 25,000. Add these to day tuition if your child boards.

Two First-Year Examples
A new Year 1 day pupil: 705,000 tuition + 2,000 application + 25,000 admission = KSh 732,000 in the first year (our sum). Meals, books and transport are extra if the school charges them separately.
A new Year 7 weekly boarder: 1,125,000 tuition + 750,000 boarding (3 × 250,000) + 2,000 + 25,000 + 40,000 caution + 10,000 boarding admission + 25,000 boarding caution = KSh 1,977,000. Confirm whether boarding includes meals before you treat that as a ceiling.
How It Compares
- NIS Year 1: KSh 705,000 tuition a year.
- Rusinga Year 1: KSh 792,000.
- Riara International Year 1: KSh 535,500 (includes lunch and exercise books on that sheet).
- St. Christopher’s Year 1: KSh 365,000 a term (KSh 1,095,000 a year) plus separate caution.
