About the Grade 6 CBC Challenge

Grade 6 is the KPSEA year. This is practice, not a KPSEA paper or a score prediction: ten questions, each marked straight away with the working.

What the Grade 6 questions cover

Mathematics: place value, fractions, percentages, decimals, squares and square roots, area, mass, capacity, data handling, money and time.

Science & Technology: human circulatory system, fungi, invertebrates, composition of air, light, simple machines, water cycle, slopes as simple machines and air pollution.

English: tenses, active and passive voice, word formation, idioms, figures of speech, subject-verb agreement, relative pronouns, correlative conjunctions, abstract nouns, question tags and spelling.

Each go draws ten questions at random from the Grade 6 bank, so going again gives a different mix. Aligned to the KICD curriculum designs and checked by the CBC Guides team. Spot an error? Tell us.

Getting the most out of it

Read the explanation after every question, including the correct ones. Children often guess right for the wrong reason.

Score card, levels and privacy

The level on the score card (Exceeding, Meeting, Approaching or Below Expectation) is indicative, worked out from the KJSEA mark ranges reported in the press. Ten questions cannot replace classroom assessment. How CBC grading works explains the levels.

There is no leaderboard. Comparisons are optional and only switch on once at least 20 real children have taken the same quiz. A parent joins with a nickname, a county and their consent. We never ask for surnames, schools or phone numbers.

Other grades: Grade 4, Grade 5, Grade 7, Grade 8, Grade 9.
