Exam-week Day 1 of 7 (19 October 2026). Ten Grade 9 Mathematics questions in about 15 minutes: integers, indices, algebra, equations, ratio, percentages, circle area, Pythagoras, speed and probability. Built for KJSEA pitch — timed, auto-marked, with worked answers you can argue with.
About this paper
Tell a classmate: “Day 1 of 7 — 10 KJSEA Maths questions on CBC Guides.” Come back tomorrow via the exam-week hub. Longer practice: Grade 9 Mathematics Papers 1 and 2.
What This Mini-Paper Covers
Negative numbers with brackets, laws of indices, expanding brackets, solving a linear equation with brackets on one side, sharing money in a ratio, a discount percentage on a phone price, area of a circle with π = 22/7, a 3-4-5 Pythagorean triple scaled by 3, average speed when time is given as hours and minutes, and probability of primes on an eight-sector spinner. All sit in junior-school Mathematics strands that KJSEA revisits from Grades 7–9.
Common Traps In 15 Minutes
- Dropping a sign when you see −(−8).
- Adding indices when you should subtract for division.
- Forgetting that discount is subtracted from the marked price.
- Using diameter as radius in πr².
- Counting 1 as a prime number on the spinner.

A mini-paper finds the leak; a full paper proves you fixed it. After Day 1, schedule one Section A from the Grade 9 Mathematics page under the real timer. More subjects: Grade 9 hub. Timetable context: KJSEA past papers.
KJSEA Maths Under Time Pressure
KJSEA Mathematics mixes multiple choice with structured work. A 15-minute MCQ sprint warms the same algebraic and measurement muscles you need in Section B, where method marks matter. After this set, open yesterday’s wrong structured question and rewrite the working cleanly in five minutes. That pairing — sprint then repair — is more effective than another unmarked worksheet.
If indices or directed numbers are weak, schedule a ten-minute drill from your Grade 8 notes before Day 2. Do not let one stubborn topic steal tomorrow’s whole evening.
Grade 6 learners at home can use the Day 1 Grade 6 Maths mini-paper instead. Do not sit both in one night unless you have already finished today’s full-paper target.
