Dates from the KNEC 2026 KJSEA timetable. Note that Agriculture comes straight after Mathematics on the same morning, with a 30-minute break. Practise sitting two papers back to back.

What Our Practice Paper Covers

  • Soil and conservation: clay and sandy soils, compost, terracing and mulching.
  • Crop production: legumes and nitrogen fixation, nurseries and transplanting, thinning, organic pest control and agroforestry.
  • Water: drip irrigation and rainwater harvesting.
  • Livestock: dairy breeds, poultry systems, signs of ill health and rabbit housing.
  • Nutrition and food hygiene: food groups, vitamin A and iron, balanced diets, preserving fish and storing cooked food.
  • Farm tools and agribusiness: secateurs, farm records and profit.

Section B has five practical calculations: plant population, egg sales profit, milk yield, how long a water tank lasts and fertiliser rates. In the real paper you would show working; here you type the answer, then compare your working with ours.

Revising Agriculture Well

Connect cause and effect. Most structured questions ask “why”. Mulching conserves moisture because it shades the soil and slows evaporation. Terraces control erosion because they slow running water. Practise writing a fact plus a reason for each practice.

Use the home and school farm. Point out legumes, compost heaps, mulched beds and water tanks. The project work already gave your child practical experience, so link it to the theory.

Link nutrition to the plate. Ask your child to sort tonight’s supper into food groups. Ugali is carbohydrate, beans are protein and managu provides vitamins and iron.

Common Mistakes

  • Thinking maize fixes nitrogen. Only legumes do, through root nodules.
  • Confusing night blindness (vitamin A) with rickets (vitamin D) and scurvy (vitamin C).
  • Forgetting to convert metres to centimetres in spacing calculations.
  • Writing “it is good for the soil” instead of a specific reason.

Pacing 100 Minutes

Give Section A about 45 minutes, which is just under two minutes per two-mark question, and Section B about 40 minutes, eight minutes per calculation. Write units at every step of a farm calculation: plants, kilograms, litres or shillings. Many lost marks come from answers with the right number but the wrong unit, or none at all. Use the last ten to fifteen minutes to check your arithmetic.

Free Questions And Full Access

The first five questions, on soil and conservation, are free for everyone. Learner members unlock all 30 questions, the timer and every explanation. Membership is free for 7 days, then KES 500 a month.
