Dates from the KNEC 2026 KJSEA timetable. The real 911/2 is out of 100 marks and includes written responses. Our 70-mark online practice covers the knowledge side in multiple-choice form. 911/2 is the third paper of a long day, after Integrated Science and Social Studies, so practise staying focused late in the day.

What Our Practice Paper Covers

  • Music: note values, time signatures, dotted notes, tonic sol-fa, dynamics such as crescendo, and Kenyan instruments including the nyatiti, kayamba and isukuti.
  • Visual arts: primary and complementary colours, colour mixing, tints and shades, mosaic, perspective and vanishing points, pottery and basketry.
  • Performing arts: dance, soliloquy and mime.
  • Sports: team sizes in football and netball, basketball scoring, lanes and relay changeover zones, volleyball touches, backstroke and indigenous games such as bao.
  • Fitness and first aid: warming up, cardiovascular endurance and RICE for sprains.
  • Values and careers: sportsmanship, fashion design and choreography.

Revising A Practical Subject For A Written Paper

Learners who love art, music or sport sometimes underestimate the written paper because the subject feels practical. It still rewards precise vocabulary. Make flash cards for note values (semibreve 4, minim 2, crotchet 1, quaver ½), colour terms (tint, shade, complementary, analogous) and sports rules (team sizes, scoring, zones). Ten minutes a day for a week covers most of what appears.

Use your child’s own project as revision too. If they made a sculpture, ask them to explain the materials and techniques in exam language. If they trained for athletics, ask about warm-ups and relay rules.

Common Mistakes

  • Saying a dotted minim is worth two and a half beats instead of three.
  • Confusing tints (white added) with shades (black added).
  • Mixing up crescendo (getting louder) and diminuendo (getting softer).
  • Giving the wrong team sizes for netball (seven) and basketball (five).

Pacing 100 Minutes

Thirty-five questions in 100 minutes leaves almost three minutes each, so there is time to think. Music questions with note values reward a quick sketch on rough paper: draw the bar and add up the beats. Leave five minutes at the end to check that no question is blank.

Free Questions And Full Access

The first five questions, on note values and time signatures, are free for everyone. Learner members unlock all 35 questions, the timer and every explanation. Membership is free for 7 days, then KES 500 a month.
