Exam-week Day 3 of 7 (Wednesday 21 October 2026). Ten Grade 6 Integrated Science questions in about 15 minutes, from the Science and Technology strands: fungi, invertebrates, the heart, change of state, air, light and levers.

About this paper

Built for KPSEA pitch. We published it a day early so you can plan your evening. It is best done on Wednesday, after the Day 2 English set.

What This Mini-Paper Covers

A medicine that comes from a mould, a seashore invertebrate at Watamu, which heart chambers pump blood into the arteries, naphthalene balls that shrink without melting, hardening candle wax, the gas in soda bubbles, why AMBULANCE is written backwards, where to put the pivot when lifting a heavy log, which tool is a first-class lever, and what happens in a solar eclipse. Each item comes from a sub-strand in the Grade 6 Science and Technology design and uses an everyday Kenyan setting.

Science Words That Cost Marks

  • Sublimation is solid to gas with no liquid in between. Deposition is the reverse: gas to solid.
  • Freezing is any liquid becoming a solid on cooling, including wax, not just water turning to ice.
  • Auricles receive blood coming back to the heart; ventricles pump it out.
  • First-class lever: the pivot is in the middle (scissors, see-saw). Second-class: the load is in the middle (wheelbarrow, bottle opener). Third-class: the effort is in the middle (fishing rod).

How To Think Through Application Questions

KPSEA science questions often describe a real situation instead of asking for a definition. Read the situation, name the science idea in one word (sublimation, lever, reflection), then choose the answer. With the ambulance question, picture the driver ahead looking in the mirror: left and right swap, so the reversed word reads correctly. With the lever question, remember that the longer your side of the bar, the less you need to push.

After You Finish

For every wrong answer, draw a quick labelled sketch: the heart with four chambers, a lever with the pivot, load and effort marked, or the Sun, Moon and Earth in a line. A sketch you drew yourself sticks better than a page of notes. Then sit one section of a full Grade 6 Integrated Science paper this week. Dates are on KPSEA past papers.
