Pathway and subject filters switch on automatically once the Ministry publishes which combinations each school offers. The official school list we use does not include them yet.
How to use the finder well
Start from where you live. Choose your county and sub-county to see every senior school near you, from C4 day schools to boarding schools. Most learners will be placed in day schools, and the nearest good day school in the right pathway is often the best choice.
Then look across clusters. Learners choose 12 schools across C1 to C4. Use the cluster filter to see the C1, C2 and C3 boarding schools in your county and nearby counties, and the gender filter if your child prefers a boys’, girls’ or mixed school.
Check pathways and subject combinations. The official list does not yet say which pathways and subject combinations each school offers, so the pathway and subject filters stay switched off until that data is published. Before ranking a school, confirm its combinations on the selection portal or with the school. Our guides to placement and pathways and choosing a pathway explain what to look for.
Know the fees. Public day senior schools charge no tuition fees to parents. Boarding schools follow the government ceilings in Gazette Notice 1449 of 2026. See senior school fees 2026.
About the data
The data comes from the Ministry of Education’s published senior schools list (June 2025 edition). We have only tidied school names for readability and restored leading zeros to KNEC codes where the PDF dropped them. The list covers public schools only. If you spot a mistake, or a school has changed cluster or status, the selection portal is the authoritative source. Browse by cluster: C1, C2, C3, C4.
