| Lesson | Sub-strand | Specific learning outcomes | Learning experiences | Key inquiry question | Resources | Assessment |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1.1 Integers | By the end of the lesson, the learner should be able to: identify integers in different situations | Identify integers by carrying out activities involving positive and negative numbers, and zero. For example, climbing upstairs (positive), going down stairs (negative). Others may include standing at a point (the zero point), and count the number of steps moved either forward or backward | Where do we use integers in real life situations? | Learner's book | Oral questions, class activity, written exercise |

Dates and timetable
The Ministry of Education has confirmed that Term 1 of 2027 opens on Monday 4 January 2027. When the pack was prepared (1 November 2026) the full 2027 calendar, with half-term and closing dates, had not been published, so the plan uses the usual pattern of 11 teaching weeks plus a revision week. Junior School timetables give each of these learning areas 5 lessons of 40 minutes a week. If your school calendar differs, move lessons along and record the real dates in the record of work.

Strands, sub-strands, learning outcomes, learning experiences, key inquiry questions and lesson numbers come from the KICD Grade 8 curriculum designs for Mathematics, English and Integrated Science (first published 2023, revised 2024). Lesson plans, resources lists and assessment ideas were written by CBC Guides from those designs. This is not a KICD, KNEC or TSC publication and is not endorsed by them. Check it against your school’s own plans before use.

Questions teachers ask
What is in the Grade 8 Term 1 2027 scheme of work pack?
Three PDFs, one each for Mathematics, English and Integrated Science. Each has a scheme of work for the whole term (Weeks 1 to 12), lesson plans for Weeks 1 and 2 and a record of work with the work covered already filled in.
Which curriculum design is it based on?
The KICD Grade 8 curriculum designs (first published 2023, revised 2024). Sub-strands are in the design order, with the suggested number of lessons. It is not a KICD, KNEC or TSC publication.
How much does it cost and how do I pay?
KSh 250 for the Grade 8 pack, paid once by M-Pesa or card through Paystack. Nothing renews. After payment you come back to this page and the three downloads appear.
Can I download it again later?
Yes. Log in with the same account and the download buttons are on this page. A Teacher Pass holder can download all three grade packs while the pass is active.
Is it a Word document I can edit?
No, the files are print-ready PDFs. The record of work and the remarks columns are left blank so you can fill them in by hand as you teach.
What if the 2027 term dates are different?
The plan follows the usual pattern of 11 teaching weeks plus a revision week, starting 4 January 2027. If the term is shorter or longer, move lessons along and record the real dates in the record of work.
