Q1. Find the inverse of the matrix [[3, 2], [4, 3]].

Marking scheme

Determinant = 9 − 8 = 1, so the inverse is [[3, −2], [−4, 3]].

Q2. A bag has 4 red and 6 blue balls. Two are picked without replacement. Find the probability both are red.

Marking scheme

4/10 × 3/9 = 12/90 = 2/15.

Q3. KSh 50,000 is invested at 8% p.a. compound interest. Find the amount after 2 years.

Marking scheme

50,000 × 1.08² = 50,000 × 1.1664 = KSh 58,320.
