What is in KCSE Kiswahili Paper 2?

Usually four sections, 80 marks: ufahamu (comprehension), ufupisho (summary), matumizi ya lugha (grammar, the biggest section) and isimujamii (sociolinguistics). Always follow the instructions printed on your own paper; layouts can change.

How to answer Kiswahili Paper 2 for marks

1. Anza na matumizi ya lugha kama unaimudu zaidi, kwa kuwa ina alama nyingi.
2. Katika ufupisho, usizidishe idadi ya maneno na tumia maneno yako mwenyewe.
3. Katika isimujamii, toa sifa pamoja na mfano kutoka kifungu.
4. Read every question twice and underline the command word (state, explain, describe, calculate).
5. Budget time by marks: roughly one minute per mark, plus checking time.

Answer: KI-VI (kiti, viti).

Question 2

Andika sentensi ifuatayo kwa wingi: ‘Mtoto amekula chakula.’

Answer: Watoto wamekula vyakula.

Question 3

Ainisha mofimu katika neno ‘wanasoma’.

Answer: wa- (nafsi ya tatu wingi), -na- (wakati uliopo), -som- (mzizi), -a (kiishio).

Question 4

Andika kinyume cha ‘kupanda’.

Answer: Kushuka.

Question 5

Taja sifa mbili za sajili ya hospitalini.

Answer: Msamiati wa kitabibu kama ‘dawa’ na ‘wodi’, na lugha ya upole na maswali kwa mgonjwa.

Kiswahili Paper 2 revision checklist

On the day of Kiswahili Paper 2

Thursday 5 November 2026, 8.00 to 10.30 am. Be seated 15 minutes early. Carry blue or black pens, a pencil, a ruler and a rubber. Read the whole paper in the first five minutes and mark the questions you will answer first. Leave the last ten minutes to check your answers and that your index number is on every page you hand in.

No. Papers sold online before the exam are scams, and holding them is an exam irregularity that can lead to cancelled results (see KCSE exam rules).
