CBC Revision In Kasarani And Thika Road: KJSEA And KPSEA 2026

Kasarani names two things. One is the neighbourhood about 12 kilometres up Thika Road from the CBD, home to the Moi International Sports Centre. The other is Nairobi’s second most populated sub-county, which takes in Roysambu, Zimmerman, Githurai, Kahawa West, Mwiki, Clay City and areas towards Ruai. Thousands of Grade 6 and Grade 9 learners in this corridor sit KPSEA and KJSEA between Monday 26 October and Friday 30 October 2026, and most of them start each day with Thika Road.

Thika Road And The Morning Rush

Learners sit at their own registered school, but many Kasarani children go to school a few stages away by matatu or school van, and the service lanes and junctions at Roysambu, Kasarani and Githurai jam up early. For exam week: agree pick-up times with the van driver for all five days, give your child fare money in coins and a small note in case of a change, and tell them to leave if a matatu is not moving rather than waiting for it to fill. Arriving early matters more than arriving in the cheapest way. The exam countdown keeps the week in focus.

Revising In A Busy Flat

Much of Kasarani is apartment blocks with families of four or five in two rooms. Revision competes with cooking, TV and younger siblings. Agree a revision hour for the whole household, say 7 to 8 pm, when the TV goes off and the younger ones read or draw. During that hour, your Grade 9 does one topic: choose it from What to revise now, then sit a 15-minute exam-week mini-paper and read the answers. The first five questions are free on any phone, and they load quickly on limited data bundles.

Weekend Study Away From Home

If home is too noisy, the Kenya National Library Service branch at Buruburu is the nearest public library on the east side, a matatu ride across via the Outer Ring Road. For a Saturday session, many learners also simply revise with a classmate whose home is quieter; two learners testing each other on past questions is genuinely effective.

After KJSEA: Senior School From Kasarani

Junior school now runs inside primary schools, so most Kasarani learners sit KJSEA in the same school as their Grade 6 assessment. In January 2027 they move to Grade 10, placed by pathway: STEM, Social Sciences, or Arts and Sports Science. Families along Thika Road often weigh fares and boarding fees carefully. A day school with an easy route can save a great deal over three years; a boarding school can suit a child who struggles to study at home. Read the pathways guide together, use the KJSEA grade calculator to understand the result levels, and see the pathway report if you want written guidance.

What You Can Buy, And What Stays Free

The countdown, topic lists, calculator, pathways guide and first five mini-paper questions cost nothing. If you want a full book of practice, the KJSEA Grade 9 book is KSh 250 and the KPSEA Grade 6 book KSh 200. The Monthly Pass is KSh 500 for every paper, and holiday packs are KSh 120. You pay by M-Pesa; see pricing. No per-topic charges, and a teacher checks every question (how we check). CBC Guides is independent, not KNEC or KICD.
