Nakuru became Kenya’s fifth city in 2021, but Nakuru County is far bigger than the city. At about 7,500 square kilometres it stretches from Naivasha and Gilgil in the south-east, through Njoro and Molo on the western highlands, to Subukia and Rongai in the north. With roughly 2.2 million people it is the third most populous county, and that means a very large Grade 6 and Grade 9 cohort sitting KPSEA and KJSEA from Monday 26 October to Friday 30 October 2026.
One County, Very Different School Days
A learner in Milimani or Section 58 in Nakuru town may walk ten minutes to school. A learner in a Molo farming ward may walk an hour on a cold, misty morning. Both sit the same national papers at their own registered school. For exam week, the practical advice changes with the place: town families should watch Kenyatta Avenue and the Nairobi–Nakuru highway traffic on the first morning; highland families should plan for cold starts with a warm layer and breakfast; families around Naivasha should allow for slow-moving lorries on the highway if the school is across the road from home.
Keep the date visible with our exam countdown.
A Public Library In Town
The Kenya National Library Service runs a library in Nakuru, one of its main facilities outside Nairobi. For a Grade 9 learner who shares a room with younger siblings, a Saturday morning there with past papers can be the most productive three hours of the week. Ask at the desk about exam-week hours before you go.
Choosing What To Revise
With a week left, don’t try to cover everything. Open What to revise now, choose the grade, and let your child pick the topics they would least like to see on the paper. Those are the ones to practise. Our exam-week mini-papers take 15 minutes, show worked answers, and the first five questions are free. For Grade 9, include at least one Integrated Science and one Mathematics set; for Grade 6, mix Mathematics with an English comprehension.
Grade 10 Next Year: The Nakuru Decision
Junior school runs inside primary schools now, so KJSEA usually happens in the same compound as Grade 6. After it, learners move to senior school in January 2027, placed according to their pathway (STEM, Social Sciences, or Arts and Sports Science). Nakuru has a large number of established secondary schools in town and across the sub-counties, so many families have a genuine choice between boarding and day options. Talk through the pathways with your child using our pathways guide, and check the KJSEA grade calculator so the levels on the results slip are not a mystery. If you want a written plan, our CBC pathway report sets out options for your child.
What It Costs
Most of what is above is free. When you want a full set of papers, the KJSEA Grade 9 revision book costs KSh 250 and the KPSEA Grade 6 revision book KSh 200. The Monthly Pass is KSh 500 and unlocks the whole site, and the December holiday packs are KSh 120 per grade. Pay by M-Pesa at checkout; see pricing. There are no per-topic charges, and a teacher checks each question (how we check). We are independent, not KNEC or KICD.
The Weekend Before
Saturday: one timed paper, marked together. Sunday: rest, pack the exam bag, set two alarms. The cold Nakuru mornings are easier with clothes laid out the night before.
Teachers can use our free report card maker. Other counties and estates are on CBC revision near you.
