CBC Revision In Eldoret And Uasin Gishu County: KJSEA 2026 Guide

Eldoret became Kenya’s fifth city in August 2024, and with about 475,000 people at the 2019 census it is the largest centre in Uasin Gishu County. The county itself is a high plateau, falling from about 2,700 metres in the east to around 1,500 metres in the west, with a cool climate and wide farmland around towns like Turbo, Burnt Forest, Moi’s Bridge and Ziwa. Eldoret is also a student town: it hosts the largest university student population in Kenya outside Nairobi. Many of the parents reading this will have studied, taught or worked at one of its institutions.

KPSEA (Grade 6) and KJSEA (Grade 9) run from Monday 26 October to Friday 30 October 2026, at each learner’s own registered school.

Cold Mornings On The Plateau

Highland mornings in Uasin Gishu are chilly, and in late October they can also be wet. A child who arrives cold and damp takes longer to settle into the first paper. The basics matter: a warm sweater, breakfast before leaving, and dry shoes. In town, roads around the CBD and on the Uganda Road through Eldoret slow at peak hour; on farm roads, rain can make journeys slower. Plan for both. The exam countdown keeps the date clear.

Using An Educated Household Well

In homes where parents are lecturers, nurses, engineers or teachers, there is a temptation to teach a topic from scratch in exam week. Resist it. The papers reward what the child can do alone under time, so the best help is to time them and then listen while they explain their working. Pick the topics with What to revise now, set a 15-minute exam-week mini-paper, and only step in after the timer stops.

Farm Households And Busy Seasons

For families on farms around the county, children often help at home in the evenings. During exam week, try to free your Grade 6 or Grade 9 learner from chores for one hour each evening. A single focused hour every day for five days is plenty, especially if it is spent on questions rather than rereading notes.

Grade 10 Decisions In Uasin Gishu

Junior school now sits within primary schools, so most learners take KJSEA in the same place they took KPSEA. In January 2027 they join senior school, placed by pathway: STEM, Social Sciences, or Arts and Sports Science. The North Rift has a strong tradition of boarding secondary schools, and many Eldoret families have both local and out-of-county options in mind. Talk through the pathways first with our pathways guide, understand the levels with the KJSEA grade calculator, and see the pathway report for a written plan.

The KJSEA Grade 9 revision book is KSh 250 and the KPSEA Grade 6 revision book is KSh 200. The Monthly Pass, KSh 500, opens every paper on the site; the December holiday packs cost KSh 120 each. Pay by M-Pesa (pricing). There are no charges per topic, and every question is checked by a teacher (our process). CBC Guides is an independent site, not part of KNEC or KICD.

Sunday Before The Papers

Keep Sunday 25 October light: one short set in the morning, then rest. Lay out a warm uniform, pack the bag, and agree how your child will get to school if it rains.
