CBC Revision In Westlands And Parklands: KJSEA And KPSEA 2026

Westlands, “Westie” to most Nairobians, sits about three kilometres north-west of the CBD on the western side of Parklands. It began as a residential area and is now one of the city’s main business districts, with offices, malls, hotels and a fast-growing wall of apartments along Waiyaki Way, Chiromo Lane, Woodvale Grove and Mpaka Road. The wider Westlands area also takes in Parklands, Highridge, Spring Valley, Loresho and Muthaiga. The families here are mixed: long-time Parklands residents, young professionals in new flats, and households who moved for work.

For those with a child in Grade 6 or Grade 9, the dates to know are Monday 26 to Friday 30 October 2026, when KPSEA and KJSEA run nationwide.

Waiyaki Way On An Exam Morning

The single biggest local risk in exam week is time on the road. Waiyaki Way, the Ring Road Westlands junction and Limuru Road back up early on weekdays, and a crash or a VIP motorcade can freeze them. Learners sit at their own school, so plan the usual route, then leave 20 minutes earlier for all five days. If your child walks through the busy commercial streets, agree a route that avoids the worst crossings. Our exam countdown keeps the days left in sight.

Revising Around A Busy Household

Westlands households often have both parents working long hours, sometimes with a house help supervising homework. That can work well if the plan is written down. Print or write a one-page plan for the week: which topic each night, which mini-paper to do, and when to stop. Choose topics with What to revise now, and use our 15-minute exam-week mini-papers so each session has a clear end. A child who knows exactly what tonight’s task is will do it; one told to “go and revise” often won’t.

Different Languages At Home

Parklands and Westlands have long been home to families who speak Gujarati, Punjabi, Swahili, English and more. Multilingual learners are often strong readers, but the Kiswahili paper can catch out children who rarely use formal Kiswahili outside school. If that sounds like your child, give two of this week’s evenings to Kiswahili, including insha (composition) practice with a timer.

Senior School Placement From Westlands

Junior school now sits within primary schools, so most learners take KJSEA in the school where they finished Grade 6. Grade 10 begins in January 2027, and placement follows the pathway chosen: STEM, Social Sciences, or Arts and Sports Science. Families here have plenty of nearby day options and good road links to boarding schools in Kiambu and beyond. Read our pathways guide with your child, check the KJSEA grade calculator so levels make sense, and consider the pathway report if you want options set out in writing.

For full practice papers in one place: the KJSEA Grade 9 revision book (KSh 250) or the KPSEA Grade 6 revision book (KSh 200). The KSh 500 Monthly Pass opens the whole site. Holiday packs for December are KSh 120 per grade. All are paid by M-Pesa; details on pricing. No per-topic charges. A teacher checks each question, and you can read how we check them. CBC Guides is not KNEC or KICD.

The Final Sunday

On 25 October, stop new work by lunchtime. Pack the bag, confirm the route and the driver or bus, and get your child to bed early. If you are travelling for work that week, leave the plan on the fridge.
