CBC Revision In Kileleshwa And Lavington: KJSEA And KPSEA 2026

Kileleshwa and Lavington sit side by side about five kilometres west of the CBD, separated in places by the Kirichwa River. They used to be similar leafy suburbs. Today they are quite different. Kileleshwa changed fast after zoning rules were relaxed in the early 2000s, and much of it is now mid-rise and high-rise apartments; the ward, which also takes in Muthangari, Chiromo, Groganville and Riverside, had about 22,000 residents at the 2019 census. Lavington has stayed lower in density, with more family homes and gardens, though the county has signalled more development is coming. Both areas have a lot of schools, and families here often have children in more than one system.

This page is for those with a learner in Grade 6 or Grade 9. KPSEA and KJSEA run from Monday 26 to Friday 30 October 2026, at the learner’s own registered school.

James Gichuru, Gitanga And Othaya Roads

School runs here are short on the map and long in practice. James Gichuru Road, Gitanga Road, Othaya Road and the routes down to Valley Arcade and Lavington Green clog with school traffic between 6:45 and 8 am. Leave earlier than normal for all five days, and make sure your child has a snack and water in the bag in case the car sits in a queue. The exam countdown keeps the date visible.

When Siblings Are On Different Systems

In many households here, one child sits KJSEA while another follows an international curriculum with different term dates. That can make the CBC learner feel their exam is less important. Be explicit that this week is theirs: protect their evening time, keep younger siblings out of the study room, and move family outings to after Friday 30 October.

Plenty Of Support, Little Timed Practice

Families in these areas often have tutors and many books at home. What is sometimes missing is practice under real time pressure. This week, swap one tutoring session for a timed paper. Choose topics with What to revise now, then sit a 15-minute exam-week mini-paper. Afterwards, ask your child to mark it with the worked answers and tell you which method marks they lost. That habit is what improves scores in the last week.

Grade 10 Choices

With junior school now in primary schools, most learners take KJSEA where they did Grade 6. Senior school starts in January 2027, and placement depends on the pathway chosen: STEM, Social Sciences, or Arts and Sports Science. Families in Kileleshwa and Lavington tend to look at day schools on the western side of the city and at boarding schools elsewhere, and some are deciding whether to stay with CBC at all. Get the pathway right first using our pathways guide, decode the levels with the KJSEA grade calculator, and see the pathway report if you want options in writing.

Prices

The KJSEA Grade 9 revision book costs KSh 250, the KPSEA Grade 6 revision book KSh 200, and the Monthly Pass KSh 500 for every paper. After exams, the December holiday packs are KSh 120. Pay by M-Pesa (pricing). One price, nothing charged per topic. Each question is checked by a teacher, and our checking page explains how. CBC Guides is independent of KNEC and KICD.

The Final Sunday

No new topics. Pack the bag, check the calculator battery if one is allowed, and send your child to bed early. A rested Grade 9 learner reads questions more carefully.
