Ruaka is a small town in Kiambu County that most Nairobians think of as part of the city. It sits just beyond the Nairobi boundary, off Limuru Road and the Northern Bypass, a short drive from Runda, Gigiri and Two Rivers. Over the past decade, farmland here has turned into a dense grid of apartment blocks, and the town has filled with young families who wanted to live close to Westlands and the UN area for less rent. Many of their children are now reaching Grade 6 and Grade 9.
For them, KPSEA and KJSEA run from Monday 26 to Friday 30 October 2026, at each learner’s own registered school.
The Limuru Road Squeeze
Ruaka’s roads were built for a village, not a town of high-rises, and the junction with Limuru Road and the stretches towards Banana and the Northern Bypass are slow in the morning. Some children attend schools inside Ruaka, others travel to Nairobi’s northern suburbs or further into Kiambu. Whatever the route, leave earlier on all five exam days and agree times with the school bus or van by Saturday. The exam countdown helps the whole household stay focused.
Small Flats, Shared Rooms
Ruaka apartments are often one or two bedrooms, so a Grade 9 learner may share a room with younger siblings. Try a household rule for the week: one quiet hour each evening, TV off, younger children reading or colouring at the same table. In that hour, the learner tackles one topic from What to revise now and one 15-minute exam-week mini-paper, then reads every worked answer. The first five questions are free on any phone.
Learners New To The Area
Because Ruaka is so new, many children have changed schools recently, sometimes more than once. If your child joined their current school in Grade 7 or 8, there may be topics they missed in the move. Go through the topic list together, slowly, and do not assume. A topic they “should know” but never actually covered is easy to spot once you look at the list side by side with their exercise books.
Senior School Options From Ruaka
Junior school now sits within primary schools, so most learners sit KJSEA in the same school as KPSEA. Grade 10 starts in January 2027 and placement follows the pathway your child selects: STEM, Social Sciences, or Arts and Sports Science. Ruaka is well placed for day schools in both northern Nairobi and Kiambu, and for boarding schools upcountry. Agree the pathway first, using our pathways guide, then use the KJSEA grade calculator to understand the results. The pathway report puts options in writing for families who want it.
Products And Payment
Our KJSEA Grade 9 revision book is KSh 250 and the KPSEA Grade 6 revision book is KSh 200. A Monthly Pass, KSh 500, unlocks every paper, and the December holiday packs cost KSh 120 each. Pay by M-Pesa at checkout (pricing). No per-topic charges, and every question is checked by a teacher, as described on how we check questions. We are an independent revision site, not KNEC or KICD.
The Last Weekend
Saturday: one timed paper before lunch, then a break. Sunday: pack, rest, sleep early. Ruaka is lively on weekend nights, so close windows and set an earlier bedtime than usual.
