CBC Revision In Donholm And Umoja: KJSEA And KPSEA 2026 Guide

Donholm and Umoja are neighbours east of the Outer Ring Road, about eight kilometres from the CBD, in the heart of Eastlands. Donholm takes its name from the “Doonholm” dairy farm of the colonial era and is often called the oldest of the Eastlands estates; today it includes Old Donholm, New Donholm, Phase 5, Phase 8 and Harambee Sacco. Umoja, split into Umoja I, Umoja II and Umoja Innercore, had about 140,000 residents at the 2019 census, at a density above 44,000 people per square kilometre. Few places in Kenya have more Grade 6 and Grade 9 learners within walking distance of each other.

KPSEA (Grade 6) and KJSEA (Grade 9) run from Monday 26 to Friday 30 October 2026, and learners sit them at their own registered school.

Outer Ring Road And Kangundo Road

Children who school locally can often walk, which is the best exam-week commute there is. Those who go further depend on Outer Ring Road, Kangundo Road and Jogoo Road, all of which are slow from early morning, and matatu fares can rise when it rains. Give your child enough fare for a price change, leave earlier all five days, and agree with the van driver if one is used. Watch the days with our exam countdown.

A Library Within Reach

The Kenya National Library Service branch at Buruburu is close to both estates. For a Grade 9 learner from a crowded home, two hours there on Saturday morning with a past paper, a pencil and no phone can be the best study session of the week. Phone ahead to confirm the hours.

Revision In A Busy, Built-Up Estate

Umoja and Donholm homes are often extended plots and flats with many households close together, and evenings are loud. Try an early-morning session instead: 20 minutes between 5:30 and 6 am, when the estate is quiet, can be worth more than an hour at 8 pm. Choose topics from What to revise now and use our 15-minute exam-week mini-papers, which load quickly on small bundles. The first five questions on each are free.

After KJSEA: Senior School Without Overspending

Junior school now sits in primary schools, so most learners here take KJSEA in the same school as KPSEA. In January 2027 they move into Grade 10, placed according to pathway: STEM, Social Sciences, or Arts and Sports Science. For many Eastlands families, the cost of boarding against daily fares is the deciding factor. Get the pathway right first, because it shapes three years of subjects. Our pathways guide explains each, the KJSEA grade calculator decodes results, and the pathway report sets options out on paper.

Low-Cost Practice

Everything above is free except where we say otherwise. The KJSEA Grade 9 revision book is KSh 250, the KPSEA Grade 6 revision book KSh 200, and the December holiday packs KSh 120 per grade; the KSh 500 Monthly Pass covers every paper. Payment is by M-Pesa (pricing). No per-topic charges. Every question is checked by a teacher, as our checking page explains. CBC Guides is independent of KNEC and KICD.
