South B and South C sit next to each other south-east of the CBD, wedged between Mombasa Road, Industrial Area, Wilson Airport and Nairobi National Park. South B is about three kilometres from town, and the wider South B division had about 102,000 residents at the 2019 census. South C, the old “South Compton”, lies to its south-west towards Langata and the park. Both are established, close-knit estates of maisonettes, flats and courts, where families have often lived for decades and children grow up together.
KPSEA (Grade 6) and KJSEA (Grade 9) run from Monday 26 October to Friday 30 October 2026, at each learner’s own registered school.
Mombasa Road And The School Run
Many South B and South C children go to school within the estates, which keeps journeys short. Those travelling further face Mombasa Road, which runs beneath the Nairobi Expressway and is heavy at peak hours, plus the Bellevue and Capital Centre junctions and the roads past Industrial Area. Whatever your route, leave earlier for all five days. If your child walks, check they are not crossing Mombasa Road at peak traffic. The exam countdown shows the days left.
A Community Advantage
In estates where neighbours know each other, the last week can be shared. If several families have Grade 9 children, consider a Saturday morning “mock” at one home: same timed paper, phones collected at the door, then everyone marks their own with the worked answers. It costs nothing and it is much closer to the real thing than revising alone.
Choosing Topics Honestly
Open What to revise now with your child and go subject by subject. For each topic, ask them to do one question before deciding whether it is “done”. Children are optimistic about topics they have not touched in months. Then work through the weak ones with our 15-minute exam-week mini-papers; the first five questions are free and each comes with a worked answer.
Senior School From The Southlands
Junior school now runs inside primary schools, so most South B and South C learners sit KJSEA in the same school as their KPSEA. In January 2027, Grade 10 begins, with placement guided by the pathway: STEM, Social Sciences, or Arts and Sports Science. These estates are close to the city centre and to good road links, so families typically consider both Nairobi day schools and boarding schools further away.
