Parents searching for “the best IGCSE schools in Nairobi” quickly find lists that rank schools without saying how. We do not rank schools here, because there is no public, comparable results table for IGCSE schools in Kenya. Instead, this guide lists well-known Nairobi schools offering a British or Cambridge curriculum where we have verified their published 2026–27 fees, and explains how to check any IGCSE school yourself.

How to check an IGCSE school yourself
- Confirm Cambridge registration. Cambridge University Press & Assessment’s “Find a Cambridge school” tool lists registered schools by country. If a school claims to offer Cambridge IGCSE but is not listed, ask why. For Pearson Edexcel International GCSE, use Pearson’s centre finder.
- Ask for recent results. A good school will share the percentage of A* to C grades from the last two or three exam series. Ask how many students sat the exams, not only the percentage.
- Check the subject list. Make sure the school offers the subjects your child needs for university, including at least two sciences and Mathematics, and ask whether practical science components are run on site.
- Ask about A Levels or the IB. If the school stops at Year 11, you will need another move for Years 12–13.
- Look at total cost. Add exam entry fees, which are often billed separately, to tuition. See the cost of IGCSE exams in Kenya.
- Visit. Sit in on a lesson if allowed, and talk to current parents.
Accreditation questions worth asking
Many British-curriculum schools in Kenya also belong to associations or hold accreditation from bodies such as the Council of British International Schools or the Council of International Schools. Membership is not the same as exam registration, and neither guarantees results. Ask the school which accreditations it holds and when they were last reviewed, then check the accrediting body’s own website.
Thinking about the long term
An IGCSE school is usually a multi-year commitment. Before enrolling, read IGCSE vs CBC and how Kenyan universities treat IGCSE. For a complete picture of costs, see international school fees in Nairobi 2026 and our full fees directory.
